Kuros – Opening Scene – Wood Glyphstone
- Shiny orb thing on the lower left of your screen? That’s the lightstone. Try hovering your mouse cursor over this. Pretty cool, huh?
- The lightstone fills with energy as you complete goals and find locations in each realm. When it is full you will return to the glyphstone.
- Investigate the borders of the screen with your mouse for “map exits.”
Wood Temple – Sinkhole
- Clicking on the bag will reveal the objects you need to retrieve. If you need help with a specific object hover your mouse over its silhouette and the object’s name is revealed.
- All of the objects you need to find are hidden in plain sight on that screen.
Wood Temple – Door Chamber
- Clicking on the sparkling crystal generator will launch a puzzle. Kuros is full of puzzles. Solving the crystal generator puzzle on this screen requires finding the 8 colored crystals first. Store them in your inventory when you find them.
- There’s a chromatic lens on this screen. Chromatic lenses aren’t required at any stage in the game, but rather are meant to make playing the game a little easier. Using one will automatically uncover a random hidden item on the screen. I like to save them for when I’m missing a map fragment…
- Speaking of map fragments: the back pack has 9, but you need to find the last fragment before you are allowed to leave this location. Make sure you look around AFTER the door has opened.
Map fragment mini-games:
- Just like solving a jig-saw puzzle: Find the border pieces first and all else will fall into place.
Ancient Barrow
- There’s another chromatic lens hidden on this screen. Oakbeard points the way…
- Inside the Barrow, the object is to find the wand and escape, however the statue must be complete before you can accomplish either of these goals. There are 8 statue pieces hidden on this screen.
Oracle’s Hermitage
- This area is the first time you actually have to find all 10 map fragments yourself. Be aware that map fragments can be hidden anywhere—as the scene changes be looking for new fragments.
- Objects used for solving puzzles can also be introduced to the scene when scene elements change. Be sure to scrutinize anything new.
- Another chromatic lens is found on the exterior screen—a little hard to reach given that it’s on the other side of the chasm.
- The goal behind the ball puzzles is to navigate the stone ball into the key hole.
- Once inside the hermitage, you’ll need to activate your wand so you can see. Still can’t figure out what to do? There are 6 crystals and six sconces. Find all the crystals and place them in the sconces. The sconces sparkle to let you know they’re important.
- In order to play the organ, you’ll need to find musical compositions. These are hidden throughout the screen.
- Remember: map fragments can be hidden anywhere! This includes telescope lenses…
Wood Glyphstone
- Each realm has a glyphstone that must be restored before Katya can continue to the next realm.
- The wand is useful in restoring the glyphstones.
- Solving the Glyphstone puzzles is an exercise in symbolic pattern recognition. Essentially, you are trying to figure out the pattern and fill in the missing symbols.
- There is a scrying orb hidden on this screen. Like the chromatic lens, it’s not necessary to find, but it will help you solve any puzzle when used. Very rare!
Fire Glyphstone
- Don’t forget to look for map fragments!
- There’s a chromatic lens on this screen too…
Hall of Brotherhood
- After talking with the Oracle, make sure you find all the map fragments on this screen. This will allow you to progress on your journey.
Hearth of Burning Power
- To get inside you’ll need to figure out a way across the lava and how to open the door. Luckily someone left a bunch of hammers lying around. Use these to break the stone shards. Some of the hammers by the hearth are difficult to see due to perspective. Keep looking and use a chromatic lens if you have to!
- Use objects found during stone shattering to open the hearth door.
- Once inside the hearth, you’ll need to fire it up, repair the chimney, and find the right materials to forge the Orichalcum rod. Don’t forget to use the anvil when forging the rod.
Hall of Brotherhood – Delivering the Rod
- The oracle still needs more parts to complete the scepter. He directs you to Oakbeard. Oakbeard likes to sleep by the Ancient Barrow.
Oakbeard’s tasks
- Oakbeard is a merchant and as such doesn’t like to give anything away for free. The items he requires can be found in the Wood and Fire zone scenes according to this breakdown:
- 10 Seeds of Renewal found in the wood zone
- Ancient Barrow: 4
- Wood Shrine: 3
- Oracle’s Hermitage: 3
- 10 Firebloom flowers found in the fire zone
- Fire Glyphstone: 3
- Hall of Brotherhood: 1
- Hearth of Burning Power (outside): 4
- Hearth of Burning Power (inside): 2
- 10 Kurosian Crystals found anywhere
- Ancient Barrow: 2 (inside and outside)
- Wood Shrine: 1
- Oracle’s Hermitage: 2 (inside and outside)
- Fire Glyphstone: 2
- Hall of Brotherhood: 1
- Hearth of Burning Power (outside): 1
- Hearth of Burning Power (inside): 1
- Return the items to Oakbeard when finished and receive the remaining parts for the scepter. After that, go see the Oracle!
Hall of Brotherhood to the End of the Fire Zone
- Remember to restore the fire glyphstone now that you’ve healed the region.
Frozen Obelisk
- The water is too cold for Katya to swim in, as such, in order to get all the map fragments (there’s one stuck inside the obelisk) you have to find a way across the water.
- It seems there’s a broken machine… perhaps this can be repaired with some items lying around and put to some good use.
- After retrieving the map fragment from the Obelisk, you will need to repair the Obelisk. Since the Obelisk is made of ice, you’ll need to figure out how to create ice to repair it… well, there certainly is a lot of water around… and there is a bucket at the base of the Obelisk…
- The ice repairing puzzle requires all pieces to fit within the border. The puzzle is solvable with the current orientation of the pieces, but if you want you can right click to rotate t he pieces. This puzzle actually has many solutions.
Farseer’s Tower
- Investigate the water wheel and the machinery on the right side of the screen.
- The pipe puzzle requires the pipe sections to be oriented such that the water flows through all of them. It is possible to route the water to the goal using only some of the pipes, but this will not result in the puzzle being solved.
- After finding the Glyph symbols in the lenses, make sure you use your wand to and draw the gestures seen in the middle of the screen and around the base of the telescope contraption.
Obsidian Hold
- Repair the statue to gain access to the equipment needed to restore the silver lilies. There are 8 statue pieces.
- There’s a scrying orb hidden under some rocks…
- The gears puzzle uses a total of 8 gears which are hidden throughout the steam room below the lily field:
- Be sure to hand the Guardian a restored lily as proof of your good intentions.
- Once inside the Hold you’ll need to turn on the lights by solving 6 laser crystal puzzles. The goal is to try and get the green beam to touch all the crystals by using the deflectors.
- The deflectors are pre-oriented and the puzzles are solvable without needing to rotate them… however, right click will rotate the deflectors if you so choose.
- The puzzle on the top right is very difficult, but it’s not impossible. Remember the laser can pass through itself just fine. If you’re still having trouble, it might be time to use a scrying orb (that’s what they’re for).
- To restore the generals, you need to find 8 missing statue pieces and figure out where they belong. Study the statues and try to look for ones that are missing something.
Wheel of Time
- Chromatic lens hidden on this screen!
- When solving the “spot the differences” puzzle, pay attention to the nuance details of the wheel, especially near the center.
- It’s a good idea to write down the time when reading the rhyme. You’ll need it later. If you forget to write it down or need a refresher, just click the wheel again.
Library
- The librarian is forgetful. He needs help collecting his items and finding his keys before you can gain entrance to the library. You’ll have to visit the Guardian and the Farseer to get all the keys.
- The locking mechanism for the library looks an awful lot like a traditional analog clock face. If you’ve written down the time from the Wheel of Time puzzle, you might try using it here…
- Once inside the library you’ll need to put away books that are cluttering the central machine. The need to be put away alphabetically and by fiction and non-fiction.
- Using the library’s book location machine require finding 5 punchcards. One of the punchcards is very difficult to find… here’s a hint: look in the binding of the books that are closer to the machine.
